The Unbelievable Left Leg of Bronzino

Posted by on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 8:45 AM

My, my.
  • My, my.
Your three minutes of art history today are best spent over here, with Peter Schjeldahl's narrated audio slideshow of the new exhibition of Bronzino drawings at the Met in New York. Schjeldahl explains mannerism and says it's similar to where we are today. He describes the 16th-century sensibility, nicely, as "The highest form of civility combined with the most candid and down-to-earth of personal appetites."

More on that spectacle of a leg here.
