  • Denny Heck for Congress
You've heard before about the gaggle of Democrats who are gunning for Representative Brian Baird's seat in the 3rd District, and the need for the party to coalesce around one of them soon if it wants to hold onto the seat.

Now hear Gov. Christine Gregoire's pick: Denny Heck.

Today she sent out a fundraising pitch describing the Olympia insider and TVW founder as the man you want to give your money to:

Denny’s background is truly exceptional. Born in Vancouver and raised in the Lake Shore area of Clark County, Denny has spent the last decade investing in businesses, growing companies and creating real jobs around the Pacific Northwest. Prior to his work in the private sector, Denny represented Clark County in the Washington State legislature and served as Chief of Staff to Governor Booth Gardner. Denny then turned his passion for open, transparent government into a reality as the co-founder and original CEO of TVW, our state’s award winning public affairs network.

Denny Heck is a rare candidate for public office — one with a broad and deep background both in public service, and more recently in the private sector, with a proven track record of growing businesses and creating jobs.

We all know him personally, have worked with him professionally and enthusiastically endorse him in the 3rd Congressional District primary.

Also signing the endorsement/pitch: former governor Booth Gardner, insurance commish Mike Kreidler, and former 3rd District congressman Don Bonker.

Pass a flat 1 percent income tax on rich people and we'll talk, Chris.

Denny Heck is the only one of this bunch candidates who has ever done anything. The rest are a bucnh of lame legislators whoare throwing poor people off healthcare and letting the education system decline.

For a second there I thought it was Ricky Gervais.

I agree, though, he looks like an outstanding candidate. TVW is great.
