Wall Street to Hold A Protest on the 23rd Floor of a Manhattan Tower

Posted by on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 2:12 PM

The street is where ordinary people protest against things like the war and limits on (or abuses of) basic human rights. The sky, on the other hand, is where people on Wall Street protest things like....

Save Wall Street will hold a rally with hundreds of brokers and traders after the White House attacked the banking industry on Wall Street. The rally will take place, tomorrow January 27, 2010 at 12:30 at 14 Wall Street 23rd floor in Manhattan...
Where is this protest happening? Somewhere up there:

Yeah, time for armed revolution against Wall Street and Washington DC.

And you know what? That protest will actually accomplish what the participants want to accomplish. That's the really sad part of the whole thing.

We'd be a lot better off if they all just jumped.

Time to dust off the famous "Jump, fuckers!" sign.

Bring the "pride" back into wall street? Really? Look, "brokers and traders". You know the deal. You work on Wall Street for the money, and the associated "respect" it garners from people in your social circle. In return you give up the chance to make a meaningful contribution to society (meaningful in the cure cancer/win a Nobel Prize/change a child's life kind of way) and to be respected by society for that contribution.

You are money-making machines. That is it. You don't get to have the kind of "pride" in your work that you're talking about here, as if you're doing some kind of noble thing by "serving as an economic engine".

@1 and @4 tied for the win.

Sadly.

The corporations want us to be serfs.

um, that looks to be a joke -- the first grade level announcement of the protest has a phony web site address, for starters...

ooooh look, real density!

Those towers are right above a subway stop, no four versus six stories arguments for a real city.

@8 is probably right. It looks like this is either a fake or not a big organization/event of any kind.

Maybe you should just forget about "assigning the win." Nobody but you gives a shit about it anyway.

Maybe you should discuss the finer points of gun control with Pam Roach.

Sorry, I don't discuss the finer points of gun control with Aussies. They've already demonstrated that they don't have a brain on that subject.

Dee, I've got nothing against Aussies - except on the subject of gun control. They've waived any claim to being intelligent on that topic.

5280 - If we were ever in the same location, and beers were available to us, I think I'd like to debate gun control with you. But, getting up-in-arms about it here would not only be lengthy and unenjoyable, but also completely pointless. So, I won't - but for the record, our opinions differ.
