Here's the Picasso the Lady Tore

The six inches of damage were in the lower right-hand corner, so it looks like the actor is glaring at the wound.

Hey! Clumsy McClumserson! WTF?

Update: Commenter TVDinner raised the good question, "How do you trip in a museum? Was she wearing improvident footwear?"

Well, TVDinner, if you're at SAM, you trip because the museum is overly protective. In May 2008, SAM's own floor barrier caused a woman to fall into Warhol's Double Elvis. Yup.

I like the solution at the Palazzo Massimo alle Terme. They have little white plastic alarms installed around a statue, and when you lean too close and presumably interrupt some kind of invisible laser, an incredibly loud sound (not unlike an electric doorbell) goes off.

1. There's no issue of you tripping over it, because it's installed on the statue's plinth.

2. It gives you an audio reminder of what you're doing, in case you lost track of how far forward you were leaning.

3. It effectively alerts gallery guards.

4. It embarrasses the crap out of you because now everyone within thirty feet knows what you did.

This woman and Steve Wynn should make dinner plans and share a very expensive bottle of wine and while their at call up Tony Shafrazi to bring the spray paint.
