Too Late?

Posted by on Sat, Jan 23, 2010 at 9:56 AM

Has this been on Slog already? It's a couple months old, and it's probably too late for the Congressional Democrats to follow this advice (I think they're allergic), and it's not even really all that funny. More sad, really.

Anyway, enjoy!

Democrats or Rebulicans it is all the same shit different party association. I am still waiting for Obama to take off his rubber suit to show that he is just Daddy Bush in disguise.

No one is arguing now that the filibuster (cloture rule) has any real protective value anymore. When we undermine the core value of majority rule we get shit. Don't give up your freedom's for the promise of security.

When you're in a knife fight, pull out the guns.

I notice the liberal guys didn't check out the girls in bikinis and pushed one of them aside so he could sneer at the republican dude.

right on but really, all these vague references to Democrats not having balls.

Isn't time to say it.

Obama.

No balls.

Just yesterday his first reaction to supreme court ruling was to say he would boldly move for strong BIPARTISAN reform blah blah blah.

Obama.

No balls.

He's not pulling out the guns, he's telling the onlookers the other side is really purty nice, they can love him too, everyone can love him.

OBAMA. NO BALLS.

A few more calls for bipartisan reform and I'm starting the Grayson for President '12 movement.

Motto:

"Yes we can -- because we've got balls!"

So if everyone in the fight got balls, the republicans would have 4 balls and the democrats 1 ball?

Really, Guys, this does totally work.
Just like the liberal guy said:

"Know what?
There's more of us than there are of you-
so we're going to do what we want.
cause that's democracy...
that's America!"

In my state we outlawed homosexual marriage.
And put it in the State Constitution.
And just for good measure we said if some other state lets homosexuals marry we won't recognize the marriage here.
And because we really have gigantic balls we also said if another state grants 'civil union' to homosexuals we won't recognize that, either.
It's all in the State Constitution.

And it passed by over 80%.
E i g h t y P e r c e n t . . .
((all the state around here did the same thing. By at least 75%...)

We're pretty sure the Supreme Court will see it our way. too.
Soon.
But just in case they don't, there's something that's handy to go with gigantic balls.
Guns.

Well, hate to say it, but this is why I voted for Hillary at the caucus.

I thought it was more about corporate money and power that was influencing BOTH parties.

Reagan, et. al. with the push for "privatisation" and the insane belief that the "market" would somehow provide the best of any good or service (when the "market" prefers profit above all things) ... basically handed power to private interests, away from public stewardship. Remember, it was Reagan who said "If the public want Public Broadcasting, the public can pay for it." Subsequently Public Television has had to beg and scrape for funding... basically an extra tax. (Which also begs the question, whose money is gov't money?). Compare that with the BBC... British gov't funded TV and radio which is pretty fantastic and level-headed.

Then think of this:
France. Population 55+ million. 7 viable, active political parties.
USA. Population 300+ million. 2 viable, active political parties.

Representative democracy... what?

Does anyone wonder if Obama lost his balls after his first meeting with the State Dept.? In all honesty I have become numb to the political situation. No one worth having in office bothers to run, most wouldn't have a chance anyway.
God Bless America, we need all the help we can get!

@10

We have a different form of government than France. Parliamentarian democracy is not the same as our winner take all approach. That is why third parties are usually a waste of time in the US.

The only way to change this is to amend the US Constitution and change our form of government.

But here's the catch: the only way to ever change the Constitution is to first get power. And of course, at this time, the only way to be in power is to organize and to be a part of one of the two parties.

Classic Catch 22.

Of course we can all just vote for Nader in 2012. That worked so well in 2000.
