Small World—Good Deed moment

Posted by on Thu, Jan 21, 2010 at 8:02 PM

OK, so I'm tending bar here at Cunneen's, wearing the Comet Tavern T-shirt I bought back in like 2000. One of my customers, Val, is from Seattle, and she takes a photo and sends it on her cell phone to a friend of hers who is at the Comet Tavern at this very moment! Small world, right?

Big fucking deal. Here's the good deed: there's a Haiti relief fund-raiser going on at the Comet, and you should stop reading this and go. The first person who gets to the Comet and finds the individual with my picture (holding today's Chicago Sun-Times) on his or her cellphone will be bought a drink by the person with the picture on the phone.

Hint: seek someone peaceful.

Now go to the Comet.

I'm guessing this was a colossal failure.

It always freaks me out to see my name in Slog like that. That, and it makes me homesick. Go team Cunneen!
