Webb of Spider-Man

Marc Webb, the director of (500) Days of Summer, is directing the freshly rebooted Spider-Man movie, which will not be Spider-Man 4. The press release alludes to the fact that this movie will focus more on a still-in-high-school's Peter Parker's personal drama. The fans, as always, are outraged:

A “Spider-Man” movie with 60% less Spider-Man? Who wants to watch a non-action comic book action movie? Is Jeff Zucker running Sony, too?

This is just mind boggling. Why would they announce that they want to get into the “human” aspects of a high schooler as a superhero? Even if they’re doing it, I don’t think I’d announce it. Just sounds like your saying, “With this new film, we’ll save TONS in the effects and director salary.”

Lame — Polish this turd any way you want — Spidy meets Twilight ain’t gonna fly.

They're taking my advice and making a movie of the newspaper strip Spidey, who spends almost all his time sitting on the sofa in his girlfriend's apartment whining about what a loser he is.

I really can give a shit, but my inner fanboy just knows that their gonna set up Venom as the lead baddie, and this makes me very angry.

If you call yourself a comic book nerd and think Venom is a good character I hope you die.

Wow, I guess i do care. How embarrassing.

My fangirl dreams have been shot to shit. First, Shamalyan screws with Avatar: The Last Airbender and now Webb is fucking around with this new "revamped" Spider-Man.

Now how the hell am I supposed to deal with reality?

I learned not to hate movies that haven't been made yet 22 years ago, when fans declared that Michael Keaton would be the worst. Batman. Ever.

I hold out hope this is tied into the existing Marvel filmverse, and that the 'young' Spidey--they really did short change that in the Raimi films--is the classic loud mouth, NEW YORK ACCENTED FROM FREAKING QUEENS, never-shuts-up pain in the ass that Spidey is meant to be.

I just really want to see Spider-Man drive Sam Jackson and Robert Downey bonkers on-screen with this incessant chatter.

Spray Net means something else entirely to young women. Tweeny girls don't want to be splooged with Spidey-net, they want to be cuddled by sparkley boys who could spray, but don't, because they are so nice.

Jesus Fuck, I'm sick of comic book movies and the fan boys who love them...it's the ruination of Hollywood.

Stick a fork in it already. Super heroes are played out and there is nothing left.

You know, those teen slasher movies don't get any press. They keep re-making Saw or whatever and somebody pays to go see it, but nobody writes about it. Any more than writing a story every time somebody shoots a porn movie. There's nothing here. Nothing to say, nothing to see. Just wanking.

Wanking isn't wrong, it's just not interesting.

@6, all due respect Mr. Peyer, but Michael Keaton was the worst Batman ever until Val Kilmer and George Clooney tried to replace him in the even worse sequels to those incoherent, terrible Tim Burton movies.

Keaton is clearly a terrible choice for batman, the problem is that he is also the median. The Schumacher Batman(men?) we so abjectly terrible that Keaton looks prescient in comparison

Spider-Man is tragic because he is forced to chose between responsibility and his love. Twilight is tragic because the "heroine" has her heart broken by the person she loves the most.

The two don't combine. Heck, if Eddie got his eating disorder under control, or didn't have to go beg the Italian vampires or something, the book/movie would basically just be the romance porn. Spidey can't just stop being a hero, or the ghost of Uncle Ben would drive him mad.

A reboot of a movie that was based on a comic....

There isn't one fucking original idea left in the world, is there?

To everyone saying this is a bad idea, I must introduce you to something called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Guar…

If Spider-Man 4 is anything like this, I will be lining up at midnight to see it.

I agree with #20. They should just make a Sailor Moon movie instead.
