We have a spiritual leader reading from a book of haiku, a children's book about a nap, and three exciting literary events today.

Matthew Flaming reads at Third Place Books tonight. Kingdom of Ohio is a love story that bounces back and forth from the past and the future and from New York to Los Angeles. Tesla and Edison are characters in the novel. Sometimes, events sneak up on me, especially right after the Christmas/New Year's break. I wish I had read Ohio in time for this reading; it looks like something amazing. I'm sorry I didn't get to this book before this event; I'll let you know what I think of the book soon.
And the The Bar Room Writers Offensive hits Barca again. The unstoppable poetry machine known as Doug Nufer hosts a reading with authors like Dave Johnston, Eric Greenwalt, Mortimer K, and Cristien Storm. They will all read something having to do with urban legends. (I wrote about the last time the BRWO was at Barca, which was a fun, funny time.)
The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
