Welcome to Mercer Street Books

Posted by on Tue, Jan 12, 2010 at 4:28 PM

They've been open for over a month now, getting their house in order, but we just received a press release announcing the official opening of Mercer Street Books, a general-interest used bookstore at 7 Mercer St in Queen Anne, where the Twice Sold Tales once was. Mercer Street Books owner Debbie Sarow has worked at Twice Sold Tales and Wessel and Lieberman, and she's very well-liked in the bookselling community.

At least one former Bailey/Coy employee works at MSB part time, and in my one visit there, I can tell you that it is certainly an attractive, clean, well-organized bookstore*. MSB will be hosting author readings and book clubs in the weeks to come, and if you're looking to get rid of some books, they'll accept drop-ins for cash or trade (call first if you're bringing more than two boxes of books.)

* Special note for the allergic: There were no bookstore cats when I visited MSB, and I believe it will remain cat-free.

Cool! And thanks for the heads up on being cat-free. Why oh why must so many bookstores torture me with sneezing fits?

Debbie's a peach and, for you Bailey/Coy Books fans out there, Red is there part time bringing her special brand of sunshine.

PS - Hooray for cat free bookstores!

I checked it out the other day and they've got a good quality selection of books, definitely worth dropping in when you're in the neighborhood

I've been searching the web for a couple hours now...looking for some great places to go to in Seattle and came across your bookstore's website.
Not much info but the local and your email. Can you send me some information about your store, such as if you specialize in particular literature collections?
Some may travel for sightseeing...I travel to meet my new loves -- Books!!
Write back soon...Thanks.
