The Bubble Is Back

Posted by on Tue, Jan 12, 2010 at 5:44 PM

Down here in the Stranger tech basement, we're feeling a little nostalgic for the roaring 90s. We got the foosball table, I can probably dig up a PSone at home, anybody got a beanbag chair?

Current Standings: Brissey 1-0, Geoghagan 1-0, Hecht 1-2, Keck 0-1.

Aw. I miss those days. You should set up a mini golf course in the office. And have your boss buy you lots of beer. That was always fun.

Those french style tables are bullshit. The plastic corner ramps will be busted, the little guys will break and you'll tie on a dry erase marker instead. Tell Keck you want a Tornado table for christmas.

Miss those days?

Seattle is walking testament as fully 80 percent of the people waddling around town are Nineties leftovers.

Turn on The End -- every fifth song is from Nirvana.

Tats, pierces, clothing ... the list goes on and on.

If you look at the MyBallard.com forum, someone is giving away a 'love bag' which is a giant beanbag chair;

The imagination boggles.

I hate to harsh the buzz here but there is nothing in this world more boring than foosball.

@8: Maybe that's just 'cause you're not doing it right.

I used to pick up the spare parts for our company when the foosball men broke from some guy in Wallingford who sold the stuff out of his garage. It always felt like buying drugs.

Ha! We bought stuff from that guy back in the day too. I felt like he had been buying some drugs.

When did foosball and beanbags become emblematic of the 90s??? Or is this a purely meta-Stranger staff thing?

Beanbag chairs are from the 70's, and foos is an 80's thing.

That said, we now live in an era in which 10-year-old School of Rock kids are busy learning Journey tunes, so all of these distinctions are becoming increasingly fleeting, if not irrelevant.
