Lying Liars

Posted by on Thu, Jan 7, 2010 at 4:26 PM

In recent days, Dick Cheney and his Republican buddies have been claiming that President Obama not only refuses to say we are at war with terrorist networks like Al Qaeda, but won’t even talk about terrorism at all. Their claim, however, has no basis in reality.

Yeah, so what? Objective reality is a bummer. Like the fact, for example, that Obama's national security policies are the same as those of the Bush/Cheney administration. See Peter Baker's piece in the NYT Sunday magazine and Glenn Greenwald's recent posts over at Salon. Very depressing.

Doesn't matter. Conservative Obama-haters will gobble up whatever dreck they're fed by Fox and company and proceed to forward it to all their clones.

Remember, many of them still talk about the birth certificate. They don't necessarily say they think it's fake, they just say "the whole controversy makes you wonder what ELSE Obama is hiding"

They cannot be bargained with, they cannot be reasoned with.

Agreed. It doesn't matter. Give it another couple days and it will be Received Wisdom that Obama just won't call it terrorism. Also, Bush handled al-Qaeda perfectly. (See Bob Cesca for a superfluous refutation of this. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-cesca/…)

There's ample evidence rebutting the righties' claims? No one cares.

Hey Girls! we really showed Cheney!

That should lower the deficit by a trillion or so....
And free up 15 or 20 thousand soldiers in Afghanistan to come home....
And provide a couple of million jobs...
And win equal treatment for Gays....

Refuting the lunatic ramblings of
an EX Vice-President;
catching him in a lie;
shoving in right back in his greasy fat face;
that is really the way to turn things around in this country!

Now lets go see what Palin is doing.....

well, Obama is no dummy,
and he places a great deal of value on keeping his fans on the right happy,
(you'll notice he is wearing a flag, an AMERICAN flag, on his lapel in the clip)
so expect him to start working references to the WAR on TERROR into ALL his conversations.

You moron(s), keeping the Repuglicans honest (i.e., telling people about it when they lie, as they'll never even approach actual honesty) is going to be vital to keep the Democrats in power and, more importantly, the Repugs out of power. If Cheney etc. are able to slander their opponents without refutal, then the natural tendency of the American populace will be to believe them and vote red. Red for danger, that is. Obama may be slow to act on issues of gay rights, but if the GOP has its say, reforms will be rolled back tenfold. Not to mention deregulation and hence more economic collapse.

One: wearing a flag pin doesn't cost Obama anything and has no real meaning apart from "I <3 the USA".
Two: Obama is indeed no dummy, and therefore will not start talking about the war on terror any more than he ought. To use it as an excuse for everything is pure bull. I mean Bush.

Is there some requirement that at least five spiteful trolls have to show up on each post? And while you're at it, register as a user or we'll deport you. That's what we do here, MIRITE?

Yeah the Republicans are living up to their reputation as fucking scum of the earth. But when do we get to rant about Obama's campaign lies? Fucker is going to have to earn my vote the next time, because I no longer will taint myself by choosing the 'lesser of two evils.'

@12
One: Obama wears an American flag pin because the Fox crowd reamed him a new asshole over it during the campaign. He even wears one on his jammies.
Real Meaning: Obama is scared shitless of the Right.

Two: Obama is indeed no dummy, and therefore WILL start talking about the war on terror every chance he gets. It costs nothing (except some pride, if he had any left, see 'One:' above...) Because two assholes is one too many and he doesn't want three. (see 'One:' above...)

(btw- you must be new here;
did you catch the incredible cleverness in @11?
First we open with
"well, Obama is no dummy,..."
seeming to praise Obama
but then we close with
" ...and you won't even be able to see Cheney's lips moving"
going back and turning 'dummy' into a ventriloquist gag-
that way every time Obama says 'terrorist' (and he will start saying it, plenty) you will know he is just doing it to keep Cheney from kicking him in the balls (again).

So how does it feel to have worked so hard to elect Obama and now see him running scared trying to avoid Cheney's scowl?
How does it feel to see him bending over for the Right and then taking it out on the Gays?
"Obama may be slow to act on issues of gay rights..."?!
Is that what you tell yourself, you incestuous animal fucking child molester? That's what Obama thinks of you. How do you like the new asshole Obama reamed you? I hope you have ample buttcheeks and room, because he'll ream you several more before he leaves office in (exactly) three years...

No, URONG.
Who's "we", anyway? And you're dumb as a leotarded shit sandwich. I meant the "That's what we do here" as a mockery of America's (especially the wacko right's) ridiculous attitude towards immigrants and foreigners.
Obama is not in any way "scared shitless of the right". If he was, would he have made such an effort to go after FOX news the way he did? He's been sticking it to the right not as well as he should, but he's not exactly caving either. I'd bet you $20 that Obama does NOT start jabbering about the "war on terror".
If Obama hated gays so much, do you think he would have been such a proponent of the Matt Shepard bill? I'd say that if anything he's misguided and a little bit afraid of gay people, just like many straight guys. (I'll have you know that I myself am straight, BTW.)

Wow. You explained a stupid gag. That is sad, Alleged. You must just be overcompensating for that tiny dick of yours that keeps somehow ending up up your own asshole. If Obama was going along with what the Right wanted, do you think that health care reform would even be on the table? Sorry, you ass bastard, but we're going to make this country better whether you like it or not. So sorry, sucker. Go back to Texas. Hell, even if you're not from there, go there, as such a varmint as you deserves it.

And yes, it cuts like a knife to hear you jabber. Like the handle end of a blunt knife wrapped in duct tape and tofu. Your less-than-witty names and rabidly optimistic dogma will not make up for your total lack of intellect.

Alleged, if brains were bread, you'd have starved to death long ago. Obama stopped pushing the public option when it became apparent that it was not getting enough support. And if anything is being shoved down your throats, TOUGH BEANS. The way our government works is that the people who get the most votes make the decisions. People voted for Bush in 2004 and as a result were punished with another four years of failed ideas and incompetency. The American public has come around since then, and has elected to office a lot of people who have at least some good ideas. You guys will have to put up with what the government decides, because as the political minority, you do not have the right to decide how the government for all of us works.

And of course the President mentioned terror and the war against it a lot in his speech Thursday. Why? He was releasing a summary of the report on the nutsack bomber! Which is perfectly sensible, considering that the report just recently finished up, so $20 is mine for now. His main points were that American intel needed to get better about connecting the dots (and outlined his plan for doing this), that America must reach out to Muslims worldwide, to offer them peace and progress rather than wanton destruction, and a call for better airport security technology. The transcript is here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-offi…

If Cheney had written this speech, it would be all about retribution and eradicating all those who wished it had succeeded, whether they were involved or not. Obama is just a bit smarter and a lot more diplomatic than Dick, I guess. And speaking of dicks, Alleged: you're one, but a very tiny and shriveled one.

Obama is just a bit too 'smart' for his own good, and way too 'diplomatic'* for America's good.

Perhaps Obama could send the Muslims a Bible.
And a birthday cake.

People voted for Obama in 2008 and as a result were punished with:

$1.8 Trillion in Debt in 11 months
and
4.2 Million new Unemployed
and
30,000 more troops into the Afghan tarbaby
and
shattered dreams and broken promises on
Health Care
and Gay Rights.

Sadly, America faces another three years of failed ideas and incompetency.

But, the American public has come around since then, and in 10 months will elect to office a lot of people with "R" after their name to start cleaning up this disaster.

Alleged, you are a moron. The Bush shtick of relentlessly bombing without regard for collateral damage only creates more terrorists, mostly people who hate the US because their parents got blown up because they were in the wrong country at the wrong time.

Contrary to what you might think, it's important to show some respect for other nations. We may be arguably the most powerful, but we cannot take on the world. Which is why Bush caused the rest of the world to hate us, by trying to run the planet all on our own. Diplomacy is what separates the civilized from the barbaric.

So...smart people are bad at running the government? You again prove yourself to be an idiot.

The difference between the gay marriage debate and the health care debate is that gay marriage won't affect anyone except homosexuals who want to get married. The majority who doesn't want them to have that RIGHT has no stake in the matter; they will not be impacted (unless, of course, they hate gays so much as to be offended, which is their own fault). Health care, however, affects us all. The majority of Americans that want health care reform will be adversely affected (unfair cancellation of policies, exorbitant rate hikes) if they are not given what they need. Understanding this is one of those differences between reasonably intelligent people and morons like you.

Debt is necessary sometimes, like when it goes into economic stimulus to bring the country's economy back. Dubya's recession, too.
The unemployment rate is due to the recession that Dubya left us due to his mismanagement and corporate cronyism. Thanks, George.

Afghanistan is a war that, unlike the one in Iraq, is necessary. (Bin Laden's biggest supporters ruled the place, and are trying to take it back.) And if sending 30k more men and women in in the short term (he did promise to pull them out at a fixed date) allows us and the Afghan government to put paid to the Taliban, then it's a good investment for the future, no?

Who is it that's been stopping what we want from getting done on health care and gay rights? The Repuglicans and their pet Joe Lieberman. And you know what? Some measure of health care reform is getting through, suckers, and the courts continue to be kind to proponents of equality.
Incompetency and failed ideas (like trickle-down economics) are the forte of the right wing. You realize that just about the entire shitstorm you blame on Obama is Bush's fault? Bush, who ran on security and then let the hijackers slip through? Bush, who let big business run rampant over John and Jane Q. Public? Bush, who battled so hard against global warming's existence and research into stem cells that research institutions are still suffering? Bush, who got us into two wars with about a teaspoonful of useful strategy? Bush, who made the rest of the world hate us? Bush, who took Clinton's surplus and let it go to hell? Bush, who made this country less safe and more paranoid? You guys have PROVEN that you have got nothing. NOTHING. And if the American public cannot see through your lies and distortions and your hatred of minorities, then we are all truly hosed in this country. MIRITE?

Yes.
Relentlessly bombing without regard for collateral damage is bad. Very bad indeed.
It only creates more terrorists, mostly people who hate the US because their parents got blown up because they were in the wrong country at the wrong time.
Very very bad indeed.

Which is why it is so abominable that Obama has become the Mad Bomber in Pakistan,
where he has launched more Predator missile attacks in 10 months than Bush/Cheney did in 8 years,
in a country which America is not at war with and in which the Congress has not authorized the American President to wage war.

The wrong country at the wrong time, indeed.

Do you know how many civilians Obama has killed in his Illegal War in Pakistan?

"Debt is necessary sometimes, like when it goes into economic stimulus to bring the country's economy back"?
Is this a hypothetical situation?
For it bears no relation to the real world.
Where $1.8 Trillion in debt has most assuredly not "brought the country's economy back"...
The Administration assured Congress that with the huge deficit swelling 'stimulus' package unemployment would not surpass 8%. That was 3 Million unemployed ago.
Obama realizes that he wasted the 'stimulus' Trillions to no effect but also realizes that the public will not tolerate another gulp at the trough.

Obama has incurred more debt in a year than Bush did in 8 years.
Are you better off than you were a year ago?

Is America?
You and Obama will get your answer in 10 months.
