okay, we'll take this 30% of a loaf....it shows the "market" in this area needs total regulation.

next step:

of course all senators will now commit to ending the stupid 60 vote rule which makes our process not a democracy. Surely, "Democratic" senatos would not support this stupid undemocratic 60 vote rule every two years?

Oh wait they do so we are going to be forever hamstrung by this relic from the 1800s.

We will always be chasing that senator from nebraska or bumfuck or Dogpatch USA and our majority in the urban archipelagos will have to suck it up to people like Nelson, the insurance executive, abortion denying, religious nut, who also is not above holding up the rest of us for a special deal for Nebraska.

Because changing that dumb 60 vote rule would be "change" and when so and so campaigned on the "change" meme, we all knew it was just for laughs.

"Let's sit down with insurers, AND Ben Nelson!"

There's something seriously wrong when the vote is an anti-climax but GETTING TO the vote is a struggle. Thanks to Republican obstructionism, 60 votes are needed to do anything at all. Fucktards like Lindsey Graham and Judd Gregg can complain all they want about shady deals in Nebraska, but the reality is, it's Republicans that forced those deals. If they'd let the bill go through with the 58 or 59 votes it already had, no shady deals would have been necessary. It's THEIR responsibility. And democracy suffers.

@2 - Yes, Republicans have been major obstacles to dealing with our current problems. But the filibuster has got to go, so we can talk about simply majorities and not this insane defacto supermajority requirement that holds the country hostage to a couple douchebag senators from red states who could give two shits about the Democratic Party or making things better.

Looking forward to making my first premium payment to the companies that created this fiasco in the first place.
