On December 15, surveillance cameras in a downtown office building recorded a man "stealing a black bag from an unoccupied office," according to a Seattle police report. It was the same man caught on surveillance footage at Washington Mutual Towers in an earlier burglary.

The next afternoon, the report continues, the man returned to the same building at Second Avenue and Seneca Street with a young female accomplice, where they allegedly stole even more shit—including purses, wallets, and a laptop. But this time they were less successful. Still frames taken from the previous day's burglary footage had been posted around the office. So while the thieves were on the 19th floor, witnesses recognized the man. Then both the man and woman "began to run down the steps" and the witnesses followed, the report says. As the suspects fled down the stairwell, they "were throwing down property, including purses and a laptop," according to the police report.

Later, police discovered they had already ditched a black bag containing a breast pump in the bathroom, the report adds. The man, who is on probation as a sex offender (he also has two restraining orders against him), was arrested outside the building; the female accomplice ran down Western Avenue and was never located. Three USB memory sticks and a video camera were also recovered from the man.

The police report doesn't say how long the man had been in possession of the video camera, but the officer did write this:

I reviewed the "movie clips" that were saved in the memory on the video camera in hopes of identifying its owner. The movie clips contained a young black female age 17-21 in a sex act, with the camera man's finger seen in the footage. Other clips showed young minor children in the residence.

The description of the female engaged in the "sex act" is consistent the description (age, race) of the female accomplice. Two questions and one piece of advice: (1) was the accomplice also the woman in the video? (2) how did the officer come to believe it was the suspect's "finger," because a lot of fingers look a lot alike, and (3) probably not a good idea to bring a video camera containing footage of both "sex acts" and children to a crime scene, almost as bad an idea as making that video in the first place. And I'm going to go take a shower.
