Two Pierce County Deputies Shot

Posted by on Mon, Dec 21, 2009 at 11:30 PM

Seattle Times:

Two Pierce County sheriff's deputies were shot and are in critical condition after they responded to a domestic-violence situation near Eatonville tonight, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's office.

A third man, the suspect in the shooting, is dead, according to law enforcement sources.

The PI has more:

Police said the initial call was for an unwanted guest, and there was a fight with a 15-year-old girl in the residence.

One of the brothers was hiding upstairs and "basically ambushed the deputies," Troyer said. One was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle; the other was flown to Madigan Army Hospital.

I can accept two events as unrelated, but three in sequence, no...

What the hell is going on here? Eight cops shot in seven weeks? Something is very wrong in Washington State.

Can we get some new headlines besides "Dead Cops" and "Amanda Knox"?

This is getting out of hand.

What a horror. I hope that officer survives OK (the sergeant is apparently stable at Madigan). I won't be able to look at a police officer the same way after all of these.

A MESSAGE FROM CHARLES MUDEDE

The incident took place on Tanwax Court East. Consider, for a moment, if you will, the resonant significance of this location.

The street name itself, the street that hosted this plunge into the unforgiving abyss of man's inhumanity to man, is composed of an unnerving agglomeration of two of the white man's favorite pursuits: tanning and waxing.

Both of these serve to emasculate the pale male. Tanning is a flight into vanity, a flirtation with the implications of melanin without the ultimate struggle of its permanence. Waxing removes his hairs, many of which may be in the swimsuit area and, thus, within the psychic orbit of his manliness.

Not on the same intellectual trajectory as this focus, but worth mentioning nonetheless, is the East tacked onto the street's name. An innocent directional notification, perhaps, but more likely the encroachment of libertine Gothamist mores that created the tension and fear in the shooter that led him to be the shooter.

This incident occurred on Tanwax Court East. And titties and stuff.

Thank you.

"hiding upstairs"? I thought it was a code violation to have a two-story trailer in Pierce County.
