Thank You For Coming to Slog Happy!

Posted by on Fri, Dec 18, 2009 at 9:31 AM

And thank you for bringing presents and candy and drinking a bunch of drinks and playing great music on the jukebox... what a fun night. We ended up having dozens and dozens of packages for the gift exchange and some were awesome (there was a Star Trek Pez collection, a $25 gift certificate to V Bar, and Twilight gift pack that included a bottle of champagne) and some where just weird (there was a pink bucket full of plastic "happy tools," for example, that will very likely turn up in a Hump video next year). I got a Thai cookbook which includes a recipe for mango brulee. Mango brulee! I will definitely be trying that out. What did you get?

With all the presents and hooting and hollering for the sexy wrapping paper, along with baskets and baskets of the Nite Lite's cheese-smothered fries, well, it was a hell of a way to wrap up two years' worth of Slog Happiness, that's for sure.

So thanks again, so much, for making Slog Happy such a fun success, and we'll see you in the New Year!

(By the way, where should we have Slog Happy in January?)

Update: How the fuck did I forget about the FNARF BEDPAN!??

Thanks for jogging the memory, Comte.

I TOLE YUH, we should have it at Kelly's.

That wasn't just "champagne" I got, it was Andre peach passion champagne. And a (knockoff) Twilight mug ("feel the bite, Forks Washington") and a knockoff Twilight bumper sticker ("Forks, where Twilight never ends"). Thanks, Abby.

I'm still wasted. But I woke up to a bottle of Potter's Whiskey. Hooray!

Curse my shyness and abject fear of WiS for keeping me away. I'm glad it was fun.

I head still hurts, and I left at 7:30. Stupid, stupid PBR.

Howz about doing something in the southend, say Columbia City, Georgetown or West Seattle? I never seem to have a good excuse to go to any of those places.

@2 - I think someone said they were sock holders, Enigma. But I've seen some of the grad students from Japan wearing those in their hair, so I'm not real sure.

I got a gold brick wrapped in lemon smashed against my head - or was it a very very stiff drink - one of those.

lol, gg, you should have come anyway. I don't bite ... often.

I got a thesaurus full of nothing but synonyms for "drunk," the movie Adventureland, and dull aching hangover.

Favorite synonym so far: "featured" (it describes that particular kind of drunk where you're completely sure you're fascinating and everyone wants to hear your story or watch you dance).

Quite honestly, I enjoyed the photo of Warren G. Harding I got out of the whole deal. Not to mention the recommendations for curling.

Dee, you and the other SLOGgers from SF should have your own, spread the joy of SLOG Happy around.

We could do that here in Portland as well, or we could just form a carpool or take the train up to Seattle one of these times.

kim - I would be down with a Portland meet-up. I really wanted to make it up for this one, but we're hosting a big Christmas party tonight and I couldn't get away. Oh well... one of these months...

Julie,

Tell those lazy sods at The Mercury to put down their bongs for a few minutes and get that organized.

The Stranger should have a national/international SLOG Happy once a year...connect everyone by SKYPE or some such newfangy device...it could be like "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve".

Christ, you really went out of your way, didn't you?

Turns out the Andre isn't even "champagne", it's only 7%. More like prosecco. Can't wait to try it. I'm thinking of enjoying it out of a brown paper bag whilst seated on the sidewalk in the U District.

Could have been worse, Fnarf. It could have been "Cold Duck" - that stuff is nasty!

@9 Sock holders make sense, considering they are in the shape of a foot. I will go home and see if they keep my socks together in the drawer.

Kim, I'd totally be up for that. Not sure who else is in SF, though. Might not be enough people to not be awkward?

Dee, I know Uriel-238 is in SF, too. You'd have to put the word out.
