Reading Tonight: A Doozy!

Only one reading tonight, but it's a doozy.

Geoff Ryman reads at University Book Store tonight. Ryman is a very popular sci-fi author. When it Changed: Science Into Fiction is an anthology of stories written by science fiction authors "in collaboration with scientists researching at the University of Manchester and its facilities." This should appeal to sci-fi nerds and science nerds alike.

Even if there were twenty other readings tonight, this would likely be the reading of the night.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.

Speaking of sci fi stories, New Scientist published the winners of its "flash fiction" contest judged by Stephen Baxter. The challenge was to write a 350 word or less story, set a century from now. I wasn't one of the winners... :(

Is Geoff Ryman really categorized as a sci-fi author? You usually find him in the general fiction section and/or the gay section...

"Was" is one of the best OZ riffing books ever.

@2: He is. "Air" is very much an SF novel and excellent, too.
