It's a Good Day for Books in Seattle

Oh_Lord__I_wish_I_was_a_Buzzard.jpg
Last year, Greenwood-Phinney Ridge bookstore the Couth Buzzard went out of business. It was an inelegant conclusion to twenty great years as a neighborhood bookseller, and it's the kind of story we've practically come to expect over the last year.

But we didn't expect this: Couth Buzzard Books is reopening today. The new store is located at 8310 Greenwood Ave N, two doors down from the Post Office, and about ten blocks away from the new location. The bookstore is smaller than the old store, but it also contains an Espresso Buono Cafe for all your caffeine-y needs, as well as soups and sandwiches. Buzzard co-owner Theo Dzielak says "we will open our doors to community groups, feature local artists, and offer regular entertainment on the weekends," and the store will be open 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Please give them your business. I'll head on up to take a tour of the new space sometime very soon.

It's fantastic that the Buzzard came back, but we need more coffee shops in Greenwood/Phinney like we need a couple extra holes in our heads. JUST STOP IT ALREADY WITH THE COFFEE. PLEASE. Chocolati, Herkimer Coffee, Diva Espresso, Makeda Coffee, Neptune, Wayward, Green Bean, Sip and Ship, JavaBean, Starbucks (two!), Fresh Flours, Monkey Grind....

@1, at least the Metro route 5 bus is a relatively pleasant ride from downtown.
