Cicchetti: Awesome or Overpriced?

Posted by on Tue, Dec 15, 2009 at 12:04 PM

Serafina on Eastlake is a longtime favorite upscale Italian place.

Cicchetti is Serafina's new, more casual little sister, located right out back, serving cocktails, wine, and small plates inspired by the version of tapas found in Venice. (It's pronounced chi-KET-tee.) It's got a lot of energy, a crazy-ass chandelier, and a small fight in comments on its review this week:

I don't know, Bethany. This place reads like every other overpriced *Italian* restaurant trying to make it in Seattle.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, and full capacity speaks volumes. Coggie go experience Cicchetti, despite you cheap comment I think you will find a wonderful, delicious addition to Seattle's restaurant scene.

I half-agree with both comments: It's way too easy to spend too much at Cicchetti—it's that small-plates thing where you have a couple glasses of wine, a few snacks, and suddenly you're at 50 bucks a person. But while I wouldn't call the food "amazing," the atmosphere is lively, the service is remarkably good (so far), and it is a nice addition to Serafina, to Eastlake, and to the city in general.
