The intern at Harper Studio wonders: "I found the cover of this month’s Publisher’s Weekly disturbing. Am I the only one?" No, brave intern. You are not the only one who finds this cover (click to enlarge) disturbing.

I thought it was pretty interesting until I noticed the exclamation point on the headline. They are like laughing at your own joke.

Kind of artsy.

Disturbing? No more than the hairdos that women and men have had over the centuries.

Would anybody under the age of fifty know what and "Afro pick" is? The image seems so 1974.

Don't be so sensitive. I think it is clever - particularly the Black Power fists at the end of the picks.

Any objections from our African-American friends?

I think its cool. What do you find so disturbing about it?

@6: I don't necessarily think it's racist. I just think it's a looooong fucking way to go for a dated, half-assed pun.

Can "Afro Picks!" be on the list of Worst Band Names?

I think it's demeaning.

Actually, I kinda like it. Clever and well done. And if it is a little disturbing to a few people, all the better. Good art SHOULD disturb at least a few people.

White people fear hair picks. As well they should!

I like it, an afro of afro picks. It's certainly better than a picture of some black person pointing at a book and smiling, which is the only other image I'm coming up with off the top of my head to go with that feature.

In other news, I probably shouldn't pursue a career in page design.
