Two readings tonight.

At Elliott Bay Book Company, local author Lorraine McConaghy reads from Warship Under Sail: USS Decatur and the Pacific West.

And then at Third Place Books, local author Tim Egan reads. You know that Egan knows how to make history into something page-turny from his popular, award-winning book about the dust bowl during the Great Depression, The Worst Hard Time. Tonight, he reads from his new book The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America. It's about a three-million-acre-devouring fire and how Roosevelt turned it into the National Parks system.

Clearly, the Egan is the reading of the night.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
