Every Child Deserves a Mother and a Father

Posted by on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 10:39 AM

A 28-year-old pregnant woman was fatally stabbed Thursday night in front of her two children by a man authorities believe is her estranged husband, who fled and is being sought by police.... The woman was identified as Maribel Arteaga. She is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer and lived at the home with her boyfriend, who also works for the federal Department of Homeland Security, Kennedy said. Arteaga’s two sons, ages 4 and 6, were home at the time of the attack. Police said Arteaga was two months pregnant.

These stories always feature folks shacking up.

@1 But the man she shacked up with didn't kill her. The man she married probably did.

@1: I shacked up. Still alive and well.

I drove home without my seatbelt today.
Still alive and well.
I smoked two packs today.
Still alive and well.
I had unprotected sex with someone I met at a bar at lunch.
In the bathroom.
Twice.
Really.
Still alive and well.
I ran with sharp sissors down the hall at work.
Still alive and well.
When I got home I borrowed the guy in the cardboard box in the alley's needle to shoot up.
Still alive and well.
I forgot to wash my hands after I took a dump.
Still alive and well.

Life is Sweet.

People who shack up introduce a ton of mayhem into the lives of their kids.
Look it up.

@1 and 5. The two of you sound ridiculous implying that somehow this poor woman brought this on herself. Two innocent children had to witness the murder of their pregnant mother at the hands of their deranged father of whom, by the way, she was married to. How does shacking up fit into this equation? I guess because she moved on with her life in a way that the two of you self righteous bloggers don't agree with, she had it coming? Shame on you!

Kids need stability, not a rotation of men coming in and out of their lives. No one is saying she brought it on herself; only that the situation was not a good one and that it bears some semblance to other psycho-estranged-husband stories.
