Sue Henry reads at Seattle Mystery Bookshop at noon. The End of the Road, in addition to being a great Boyz II Men song, is also a murder mystery starring "Stretch and Maxie."
A few hours later, at the Central Library, William H. Wilson will be reading. Shaper of Seattle: Reginald Heber Thomson's Pacific Northwest is a book about the guy who is responsible for Seattle's infrastructure. Bring all your infrastructure complaints to the Library today. I bet Mr. Wilson will be happy to hear them.
Elliott Bay Book Company hosts Antonio D'Ambrosio with Rocky Votolato tonight. D'Ambrosio, who is a music writer, discusses his latest book A Heartbeat and a Guitar: Johnny Cash and the Making of Bitter Tears. He will be joined by Votolato, who is a singer/songwriter who was the frontman of a group called Waxman, which I hope is a tribute group for the U.S. Representative from California. Votolato will perform the songs of Johnny Cash.
And the Fantagraphics Store is hosting a big party tonight, too. In part, they are celebrating the release of a book called Portable Grindhouse: The Lost Art of the VHS Box. But it's also the third anniversary of the Fantagraphics Store, and they've shipped in a ton of great cartoonists like Femke Hiemstra, the astounding Paul Hornschemeier, and Jay Ryan. And Dame Darcy, who is a force of nature unto herself.
Either the Johnny Cash reading or the Fantagraphics Party look like a great time.
