It's kind of nice hearing these virulent anti-gay bigots having to come out against anti-gay legislation. If we go back to the political climate of the 70's or 80's, I doubt we'd be hearing anything about another country's anti-gay stances. And if there was a ruckus made, I'm sure people like Inhof would gladly have supported it.

God damn I really have to admire how Rick Warren works. Hes so damn effective with his brutal tactics. He can put all the attention on the execution of gays and then speak out against it. It looks to those that don't dig deep that he agrees with liberals and that a more moderate "non-execution" law is actually a reasonable thing. Rick Warren you clever bastard, I hate you.

I'm glad to hear he has stopped being such a softcock and spoke up. I hope his sentiments are from the heart, but I'm prone to think they are driven by his pocket book, as he no longer takes a salary from Saddleback Church and is dependent upon his "Purpose Driven Life" book and programs for his dinner. I do hope that he has sway in the Ugandan legislature.

Rick Warren has simply mastered that old trick that so many people have used: he believes what he is saying at the exact moment he is saying it, and simultaneously applies that veneer of belief retroactively to all his prior actions. When the time comes to change his position, he isn't troubled at all - he simply wills himself to believe he has always felt that way, and there is suddenly no inconsistency to be ashamed of.

Oxymoronically, Warren is a 'religious charlatan' and unlikely to change in any measurable way that might reassure or comfort those of us who did not purchase - one day on a whim - our homosexuality from the neighborhood 'gay shop'. Like that other idiot - 'therapist' Cohen who claims to 'cure' gays (like hams?) - these poseurs will never accept the fact that homosexuality is not a light switch that can be flipped from 'on' to 'off'.
