When I was eight years old, I was hospitalized for a couple of weeks with a butt infection. While it didn't kill me, the boredom nearly did, so I'm pleased and maybe a little wistful to see that Child's Play, the local charity founded by the nerd-gods at Penny Arcade to send toys and games to hospitals worldwide, has done so well this year. After Tuesday's huge, swanky auction, they've topped $1.3 million and are hoping to break last year's record of $1.4 million. High-rolling nerds bid on packages like a shift at Xbox LIVE enforcing electronic frontier justice and a chance to sic the legendary Frag Dolls on someone who needs a lesson in humility. The rest of us can select from various hospitals' wish lists and give directly.
But hey! Don't forget Strangercrombie! Minutes to go!
The Stranger Testing Department is Rob Lightner and Paul Hughes.
