A youth minister on Manhattan’s Lower East Side is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges of raping a young girl under his supervision. Jeremy Fulton, 27, was arrested Thursday night by Manhattan's Special Victims Unit for allegedly raping a 12-year old girl who attends his Mariners' Temple Baptist Church group.... Prosecutors say Fulton exposed himself to the victim and had sex with her multiple times two years ago. The victim's mother has told police there are allegations that Fulton has committed the same sex acts on other young girls.... Church members told NY1 they were in disbelief, but some said they were reserving judgment and keeping Fulton in their prayers.

A former youth director for the Catholic Diocese of Savannah has been arrested on charges he molested at least two girls during the time he was employed with the church. Effingham County sheriff's deputies arrested Julian Sheppard Heyman III, 52, of Springfield on Monday at his residence.... Heyman has been charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, sexual battery and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Additional charges are pending. Barbara King, spokeswoman for the Savannah Diocese, said Heyman was employed as director of youth ministries from July 1988 to October 1999... "He did fine work during his time with us."

Moviegoers know Jody Trautwein as the smiling Alabama pastor who tries to talk Sacha Baron Cohen's character out of being gay in the hit movie Bruno. But Trautwein is auditioning for another role: mayor of Birmingham. He's among 14 candidates in Tuesday's election to replace Larry Langford, who was booted from office in October after being convicted on 60 felony counts in a bribery scheme. "I haven't seen the movie," Trautwein, 39, told the Associated Press. "From what I understand, it's about an hour and a half of darkness and perversion with about three minutes of light."

It might be worth noting that Trautwein, whatever his considerable faults may be, was not the one convicted of the felonies.

According to the Bible, the first two must marry their victims, and never divorce them.

Trautwein may be overreacting a bit when he calls Bruno "an hour and a half of darkness and perversion", but he's correct when he states his scene was "three minutes of light"... if by "light", he means batshit-crazy.

He sounds like he'd be a barrel of laughs as mayor.
