The Hugo House is hosting something called the Write-O-Rama. For 24 hours, the House is hosting a pledge drive that features "more than 40 one-hour [writing] workshops," two open mics, and lots of food. If you've just got done with National Novel Writing Month and you're looking for more frenetic writing activities, you should check this out.
Andi Marquette reads at Seattle Mystery Bookshop today at noon. A dead white man is found on a Navajo reservation in The Ties That Bind.
Ellen Louise Hart and Holly Springfield will read from Reading Emily Dickinson's Letters: Critical Essays at Elliott Bay Book Company this afternoon. Hart is a Dickinson scholar, and Springfield is "founder of the Portland chapter of the Emily Dickinson International Society." Swoon!
Third Place Books hosts Amy Rench. An Olympic swimmer is injected with something that gives her "psi powers" in Fallen Rogue, which is not to be confused with Going Rogue. And then, this evening at Elliott Bay Book Company, Tim Page, who was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age 45, reads from his book Parallel Play: Growing Up with Undiagnosed Asperger's.
The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
