Man Steals $13 Prescription

As if there weren't enough examples showing why Congress needs to overhaul health insurance, here is another one: On November 29, a man walked into the Bartell Drugs on Broadway to get a prescription filled that was issued by Virginia Mason Hospital, according to a Seattle Police report. Once the man's prescription was filled, and handed over, the man "ran out of the 'Fire Exit' door with the prescription drugs." The suspect escaped, according to the report, which doesn't name the drug or any personal information about the suspect. Okay, when people start having to resort to stealing their $13 prescriptions, I think it's time for some change.

But if he didn't pay $20, how can he expect change?

Um, no. This story, what there is of it, is not a reason to change how health care or insurance works. Dingbat examples like this are the kind of thing I'd expect to find on the Huffin--

Oh.

Dear College Student,
Some people are just dirty thieves and there's no one else to blame for it.

I work at a store with a pharmacy. I was stocking shelves near the pharmacy when I heard the pharmacy tech telling an elderly-sounding lady her insurance wasn't going to cover that medication. "Well did you run it through my this insurance?" " They're not covering it." "Well did you run it by my that insurance?" "They're not covering it." As the tech was trying to find a different way to say NO COVERAGE for the twentieth time, the lady sighs,"Socialised medicine is going to lead us into such a big mess."

I'm paying top dollar for my placebo prescriptions and my boredom treatment pills just so that Johnny Q. Joyride and Penny Mydollar can run out with thirteen dollars' worth of necessary medicine? THANKS, OBAMA!
