Lunchtime Quickie: MiniVan vs Wrecking Ball

Posted by on Mon, Nov 30, 2009 at 12:10 PM

Whether or not this video is real or fake, the way Mom's Mini takes the blow, well, I kinda want one. A MiniVan, not a wrecking ball.

Clearly a stunt for an upcoming movie. Check out the lever arm under the van that helps it flip over.

The fact that this is a film scene is reported by the top hit when I search for "minivan wrecking ball". Do they not teach search engines in journalism school?

I think the crowd at the end would be running (rather than walking) towards the wreck if it was real...

#2, when you google "Whether or not this video is real or fake", does this post come up?

I'd rather have the wrecking ball. Handy, those.

I've never seen an actual wrecking ball in use in NYC. I doubt they'd be allowed -- too much chance for accident in the tight conditions of the city.

wrecking balls have all but been eliminated from use in demolition. They suck because they have a small range and scope of impact. That said, their use in comics and movies endures.

if you watch the clip 2-3 times you can hear "CUT!"
