A Civil Suit Filed Against Amanda Knox

Posted by on Mon, Nov 30, 2009 at 8:05 AM

It seems the Kercher family sees guilt in the very person that the Knox family sees nothing but innocence:

In civil procedures today, the lawyer representing the family of strangling victim Meredith Kercher requested the equivalent of about $36 million in damages from the three people who are accused of killing her, including U.S. exchange student Amanda Knox.

Prosecutors gave closing arguments against the exchange student this weekend.
In asking for what he called "symbolic" damages, the lawyer, Francesco Maresca, told the court here that he believed the case against the two young people was "crystal clear" and enough for the jury and judges to find them guilty.

"There is no room for other solutions," Maresca said.

The week we have just entered also happens to be the last week of the trial. Indeed, even this too shall pass.

That shouldn't ever stop you from blogging about it though.

Strangely, the Italians are hitting up her family for cash with a week left to go in the criminal trial. Could a "miracle verdict" cost a mere $36 Meg when bought from scheming Eurocrats?

This is what we learned from OJ; if you can't get them criminally, hit them in the civil courts. (I don't know about Italy but the burden of proof is far less in civil courts in the U.S. than in criminal courts.)
