There is an open mic (with erotic tendencies) at the Little Red Studio.

Or you could go to the Ballard branch of Seattle Public Library. Chef Daniel Orr, who is some sort of celebrity chef, reads from his new book FARMFood: Green Living with Chef Daniel Orr. Mr. Orr is on the cover of his book on the left there. He has a tattoo of the title of the book on his arm, and is displaying it on the cover of the book. Virginia Woolf did the same thing with The Waves, so hopefully this is a conscious homage.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.

I knew about her tongue piercing, but Woolfe's tattoo is a new one on me. Ahead of her time, she was.

Dan Orr is a well-known chef, who espouses the farm-to-table approach to dining that has been nearly decimated by the rise and conquest of industrial agriculture.

Paul, when you have a book to review or reading to publicize, don't you think it would behoove you to find out about the author and either skewer or support his/her work/background/whatever with some informed authority as opposed to doing what you have done here, which is reminiscent of a doughy hipster who has riffled through some press releases, knocked the pie crust crumbs off the keyboard, and phoned in a lackluster glob of content?

All the more's the shame, given that Orr is an accomplished voice and proven cooking talent.
