Paging 9/11

Posted by on Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at 2:41 PM

Slog Tipper Alex wants us to know that Wikileaks is in the process of publishing "over half a million US national text pager intercepts" from September 11th, 2001. They're publishing all of the texts sent from 3am, September 11th through 3 am September 12th in order. If you don't want to sift through page after page of raw data, The Guardian has a good rundown of the first few hours of leaks:

One message from a New York City official sent just minutes after the first attack said: "WTC has been hit by an airplane and a bomb." Another says: "It's reported that a US military helicopter circled the building then crashed into or next to the Pentagon." Later in the day, a message presciently says: "We are bombing Afghanistan."

This is going to give a huge jolt to 9/11 Truth groups, who will no doubt use these texts to continue to claim that, since people believed they heard bombs, there must have been bombs. They don't seem to remember how difficult it was to get information that day, or how panic affects rumors. They will take all these confused texts as gospel and weave them into their open-source documentaries. Expect to see a lot more from Truth groups in the next year.

Christ, I remember the rumors from that morning. Truck bombs in Brooklyn and an attack on the NSA.

As far as the truth movement...they believe that the same bungling morons who turned everything they touched into shit just happened to pull of the greatest false flag operation in the history of civilization.

Occam's razor, you dumb fucks.

The weirdest truther rumor is the one that the "folks behind 9/11" somehow jumped out of the planes or something and hid in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm glad no one bought into those rumors and started any unnecessary wars.

Enough man! Did a truther rape your sister or something?

I'd sit and wait for truthers to write you back, but between all the 'sheeple' comments and the requisite 'tinfoil hat' responses, I imagine neither party will realize you're two sides of the same coin.

The Birthers and Truthers really need to enlist. Now. So they can Darwin Award themselves and do humanity a favor.

Meanwhile, I'm just thankful that, even though I had three family members who might have died, none did. (two worked in the WTC towers, one of which was on a flight to the West Coast from Boston at the time but ended up going later, and the other one worked in the side of the Pentagon that got hit).

My sis phoned and told me to watch CNN right before the second plane hit but we didn't know who survived until days later. Then my brother sent pics the next day but my uncle and foster brother we didn't know about for days.

Paul, it would be a whole lot better for you if you were to focus on the myriad number of positively untrue, completely explained/sunshined acts that have gone down in the past 10 year or so. I mean you really look like a fool for going after a bunch of half-cocked folks who really just want a full accounting of that day. You are a smart guy, let this shit go--'cos when all the blanks are eventually filled in you are going to look/feel like a COMPLETE JACKASS. Kinda like Dan Savage does for his vengeful support Bush. Its hard to live down stupid decisions when they result in the deaths of so many dark-skinned people. Have another hotdog and STFU.

Paul, going after 9-11 truth people like that is pretty cheap. You don't even have an argument really. You just go straight to the insults.

Why? Because they're not the single-minded group you seem to think they are? Because 'wanting to know the truth' is apparently not a noble cause to you?

You can't win an argument with them because all they want is the truth about that day. So if they're searching for the truth, what the hell are you searching for? What the hell are you advocating?

Nothing.

Again, I don't know what your problem is with the 'truthers,' but whatever it is, it's misguided and wrong-headed.

How about next time, instead of taking pot-shots at people, you actually try to explain what it is that 'truthers' believe? You'll be wrong, but hey, give it a shot. Otherwise you're just fighting a straw-man, and there's nothing honorable in that. In fact, you just wind up looking foolish.
