Remember soda fountains and soda jerks?

In the 50's a popular sandwich at soda fountains were grilled Hershey Bar Sandwiches. I don't remember how much they cost, but a Hershey Bar sold for a nickel. And if you live in MA the most popular sandwich is still Peanut Butter and Fluff (Marshmallow Creme). Junk food is nothing new. But Dan is too young to remember. Danny

I was waiting for my breakfast sandwich from Starbucks (my morning ritual is to get the food from there and then wander over to Vivace for my *real* coffee) and tried one of their little caramel brulee samplers. It was roughly 50% sugar and 50% whipping cream. Not something fun to drink at 8:30 AM.

fluffernutter is the proper name for that sandwich, 2. not very nutritionally different from regular PBJs, I'd reckon.

anyway, dan, starbucks has been selling syrupy, whipped-creamy concoctions for ages. you're still surprised? every holiday season is an excuse to roll out a few new ones.

No, @4, a Fluffernutter was Fluff (some kind of weird-assed marshmallow glop) and peanut butter. Sheesh.

I much prefer coffee based coffee drinks (americanos, espressos, coffee itself) to Milk based coffee drinks (lattes, mochas). I love a good cappuccino, but they're hard to come by. Starbucks is just masking their mediocre lattes with a spoonful, or three dozen, of sugar.

Trouble 10
Starbucks was once a place for people who love coffee. Now it is a place for people who hate coffee.

I wonder: If everyone were required to take a class and pass a test on marketing, persuasion, and the psychology of advertising, would people live healthier lifestyles?

I don't like my coffee messed with. I do have to drink it "white" first thing in the morning, but after that no thank you.

What's wrong with Fluffernutters?

Starbucks figured out looooong ago that milkshakes are better for your bottom line than coffee, bc people will drink milkshakes all day, but coffee tastes "icky". The best way to make money is to encourage childish instincts. The world is, and always has been, fucked. The end.

McDonald's McCafe is "better" than any Starbucks. However, they don't have Howard Schultz, and his personalized drink of choice, Grande Expresso Bozo, to go.

What's funny is watching a yuppie order one of these drinks "skinny," as if that vomitous swill of sugar syrup and Frankenmilk is somehow healthy.

Instead of listing the calories for each item on the menu board, they should post the amount of insulin a diabetic would have to take.

Everyone gets 5 cents from Starbucks if they return with their plastic cup top for reuse.

That's nothing...I was waiting for the performance of Tchaikovsky's Pathetique at Benaroya (fantastic conducting)...and stopped by the Tullys on 4th...they sell milk shakes...real milk shakes like vanilla and cookies n' creme!

Have you never been to a Starbucks before? This isn't anything new, for Starbucks or most chain coffee shops.

Honestly, have to agree with Nova.

This drink is really tasty. I do order it without the whip sometimes. According to "My Starbucks Idea" staff this is a new richer caramel sauce than they've used in the past. While I like my straight up latte with no sweetener, this is a nice change once in a while. I feel the same way about the gingerbread latte, which is easy to replicate at home with gingerbread syrup and candied ginger from Trader Joe's.

I really wanted to like it, but was disappointed. I still have a weakness for the peppermint mocha, double short as a dessert.

I wanna know where this is with the carat over the u and the single e at the end. I'm an instinctual proofreader and I know the ones in Seattle say "brulee."

@21, seriously. The caramel brulee latte is the tastiest thing since grilled cheese.

I don't goto starbucks for shitty coffee. I got here for candy drinks and smiles.

When you guys go to bars do you only order a standard beer? Or do you sometimes get a touchdown or wild orchid or some nonsense because it's fun and it tastes delicious.

I just watched my mother eat a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast. Yeah. It's gross. Have candy, fine, but call it what it is.
