PapersFriday, November 20th 2009 7:30 - 10:00pm
University of Washington, Kane Hall Room 110
Tickets $10 General $5 StudentThere are approximately 2 million undocumented children who were born outside the U.S. and raised here. They were educated in American schools, know only the U.S. as home — but simply by turning 18, they become "illegal" immigrants. It is then against the law to work or drive. It is difficult to attend college. Currently, there is no path to citizenship for them. Some of the students caught up in this trap will be joining us for a discussion after the film, moderated by OneAmerica’s Executive Director Pramila Jayapal. (We’re an immigrant rights advocacy organization based in Seattle by the way.)
Collision: Is Christianity Good for the World?Making its theatrical premiere, the new documentary COLLISION pits leading atheist, political journalist and author Christopher Hitchens ("God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything") against fellow author and evangelical theologian Pastor Douglas Wilson on a debate tour arguing the topic “Is Religion Good For The World?” Lives and worldviews collide as Hitchens and Wilson wittily and passionately argue the timeless question, proving to be perfectly matched intellectual, philosophical, and cinematic rivals. COLLISION is directed by prolific independent filmmaker Darren Doane (Van Morrison: To Be Born Again, The Battle For L.A., Godmoney).
