Sorry to hear it. I think you're supposed to cower in a doorway and open he windows to equalize the pressure and keep things from dropping on your head or something. Or maybe you should like head for the cellars or something. Do y'all have cellars out there in RainCity? Stay safe.

I have to play soccer that night in Sea-Tac. Ugh.

It means I'll probably have to replace part of my fence for the 5 time in 7 years.

Soccer aside, I hope it comes, and comes big. I'd like to see the Space Needle all wind bent. And I'd like to see some hipsters blown into condo tower retaining walls, embedded there with emo hair, stovepipe jeans and a Bukowski Reader.

Come wind. Come wind, and blow.

Well, that's not *exactly* what he said.

I got the Mona Lisa and the giraffes packed away. Amanda Peet can stay. Sorry John Cusack, into the Salish Sea with you. If we must fear something let's fear the weather.

It's already blowing where I am, love it when the walls shake and entire tree limbs fly by the windows... which only happens about 30 times per year, but still.

Renton Mike @3, what kind of crap fence design do you have that you end up replacing it every couple years? Other than adding a bit of stain, I haven't had to touch my fence in a decade. A properly done fence should stand up to most wind short of a hurricane.

As the Bard said,

Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Remember to keep your small watercraft off the Puget Sound during storms, you crazy kids.

Rob in Baltimore 17
Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air
Who's bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

And Windy has stor-my eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

And Windy has stor-my eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

The wind kept me up all goddamn night last night, I guess due to December 2007 windstorm flashbacks. We moved to a new house since then, so we don't have the three ginormous old cedars directly behind our home anymore creaking like crazy and dropping limbs the size of small trees, but I still couldn't sleep through all those gusts. It didn't help that the wind set off a neighbor's car alarm and that he or she let it just go and go from 3AM to 4AM or so...

The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain
In the face of a hurricane West Wind

You call this a rainstorm?

I've been in far worse in the Rockies and in the plains of Alberta and Texas.

That's my favorite song, Rob in Baltimore. Who does real four-part harmony anymore (i.e., not four boobs moaning soulfully together).

I drove across the I-90 bridge and the wind was hitting me sideways and pushing me off the road.
It was kind of scary.
