Crime Police Arrest Greenwood Arson Suspect but Investigation and Patrols Continue

When police and fire officials arrived at the scene of a warehouse fire in Shoreline this morning, they found Kevin Todd Swalwell, who was already a person of interest in the recent rash of Greenwood arsons, near the warehouse. Very curious. Police and fire officials interviewed Swalwell, 46, and booked him into the King County Jail.

“This is great news for everyone concerned. I’m confident that the community will be able to rest easier now,” Seattle Police Chief Diaz said in a statement.

But police are uncertain if Swalwell is responsible for all of the fires set in Greenwood. (More on the arsons here.) The investigation remains open and the fire department's Fire Arson Task Force will continue patrols. "Detectives are uncertain whether or not any additional suspects are connected to these crimes," the police say. Anyone with information on the Greenwood fires is urged to call the tip line: (800) 55-ARSON.

The Seattle Times reports that the suspect was convicted of felony arson in 1995.

@1 - lol. most juries are filled with people who believe we're all "fellow travelers in the world" or some neocon or libertarian claptrap around here, Mahtli. They'll probably set him free, especially if he owns a gun.
