Re: Fort Hood "suspect":

It seems pretty silly to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on his medical care when they're just going to end up sticking a needle in his arm and killing him anyway.

@ 2, we're not barbarians here. (At least, we shouldn't be.) Besides, that's just a drop in the vast military budget, so it seems silly to even comment on the expense.

It bears noting that two of the fires were set two blocks from the McGinn house. A juicy Law & Order would look for attention-starved family or a self-sabotaging mayor-elect. Just sayin'.

Today would have been Carl Sagan’s 75th birthday. He died here in Seattle, at the Fred Hutchinson Center, in December of 1996, too young...

@ 7, zygotes aren't babies, and they don't have souls so they can't be "slaughtered". Learn some medicine and theology so you don't look the a fool on top of looking like a coward. kthxbye

All young men all the time, and to think that gender rules the world. Oh well.

Regarding the snowboarding crashes, the illustrious Damon Packard did it better with SkateBang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg63r0vx9… (1:20 is where it all starts)

That's the "slam section" from an old Standard Films TB movie circa 2002. Probably the last real slam section to make it into a snowboard movie. Now they just mix in the occasional crash into each snowboarder's part to remind you that it is hard to do what they do.
Slam sections and crash reals are stupid. That's why MTV and late night WB channels have shows about crashes.
