Lose-Lose 2
Bummer that the Stranger dropped coverage of the Sounders, the only Seattle sports team that wins. Game today at noon.

@2, maybe you're confused about what "news" means. It'll be in tomorrow's Morning News. I agree, they should have a liveslog entry -- at noon, not now. Root for Seattle and for Chivas tonight -- that way we get another home playoff game, win or lose -- plus the final, which is here regardless.

Unpaid Intern, if you're going to mention the price of gold in passing, you need to mention that it's passed $1,000 (and gone back under) a few times in the last year. This isn't the first.

Well, yeah, Glenn, that would be responsible journalism. The only responsible journalism you're ever going to find around here will be about the price of reefer, though.

What say folks? Brian Baird a coward, dolt, or corrupt and protecting the rich? Principled? How could one be principled and leave families unprotected from destructive health vulnerabilities when they had a chance to save them?

Actually gold has continued it's upwards momentum past $1000 for the last 2-months and just touched the upside of $1100.

But close.

@2 The Sounders haven't scored a goal against Chivas this year. I think I'd prefer a road game against a team they can score on than a home game against a team that shuts them out repeatedly.

Afghanistan? Hire more Blackwater folk.
When they say that 40,000 new troops will be deployed, it might as well be read as 100,000. Independent contractors continue to rise and make up over half of the US presence.

The unpaid intern meant to say gold hit $1,100 an ounce, or at least if he had read the article he linked that is what he would have meant to say.

@6
Vincent,
Why doesn't Dan provide health coverage for his exploited unpaid interns?
Is he a coward, dolt, or corrupt and protecting the rich?
Is he getting fat and rich off the labors of the little guy?
Isn't it bad enough that they aren't even paid?

Why do you support such an exploitive unjust racket as this, Vince?
Why are you helping Dan grind a boot heel into the face of the worker?

Nice shout out today for McGinn on CNN. Carville is presented with a video of a Washington State guy complaining, correctly, that the Democratic PArty hasn't moved forward enough as promised in the last year's campaign. so Carville says well he's from SEATTLE, they're three times more liberal than San Francisco, my god, they just elected a GREEN MAYOR.

But he didn't mention his name.

San Francisco has 7 light rail lines, legal marijuana dispensaries, and a plastic bag ban... We have 1/2 a light rail line and free plastic bags for all.

Yeah, the news was gold hitting $1100 USD/oz. It's been above $1000 for weeks. It means, of course, that there's global worry about the value of the US dollar. Gold did this in the 70s when there was near hyper-inflation in the US.

It also means oil and other world commodities will increase in price while foreign exchange rates plummet. Not a good time to plan a gas-intensive vacation or a vacation outside the US - not that anyone has any money anyway.

OK, NOW we can complain about the lack of Sounders coverage. Slog's failure to liveslog caused the season-ending loss. Clearly.

@8, that may be true, but I still hope for eleven career-ending injuries every time Galaxy take the field. Now that it doesn't matter, I'm rooting for Landon Donovan to be beheaded on the pitch, and have the spurting blood permanently blind Mr. Beckham.

Shit, Guinness before noon, maybe not such a good idea.

But don't forget that the gold price has been climbing against all currencies since the early 2000's.

And today it is again seated atop the $1100/oz. line.
