Glenn Beckwatch: Like Oprah, but More Action-Packed

Posted by Paul Constant on Fri, Nov 6, 2009 at 2:57 PM

Move over, Oprah Winfrey! There's a new alpha-bookseller in town, and his name rhymes with "henpeck."

On his radio show and cable television programs, first on CNN Headline News and now on the Fox News Channel, Mr. Beck has enthusiastically endorsed dozens of novelists, a majority of them writing in the thriller genre. Mr. Beck, who now attracts 9 million weekly listeners on radio and 2.7 million daily viewers on television, often selects authors whose plots or characters reflect political stances that mirror his own. But he also promotes the work of authors who may disagree with many of his views.

“He’s our Oprah,” said Brad Thor, a writer of political thrillers who has appeared on Mr. Beck’s radio and television programs several times. “God love him, we’re very fortunate.”

In other news, Glenn Beck has appendicitis. Or does he? Jon Stewart is on the case:

That was the most brilliant Beck-performance I've ever seen.

How long before he recommends "the Turner Diaries" or "the Protocols of the Elders of Zion?"

I would just like for you to apologize for the recommendation of "The Orphan". I know it's been a long time since anyone has made a decent horror movie, and so you must've been jonesing to give a good review for something. But please... Please?

Would you please hire me? Because that was a fucking piece of trash.

What was good about it? You probably thought it was good because the cinematography was OFF THE CHARTS! You also spoke of the acting, and you're right: it was good. But it was not enough to make up for the writing or the concept. Dude. How low have your standards sunk?

Cinematography: A+ (there seem to have been some advances in film: how fucking beautiful is the photography in the first half of the movie??)

Acting: really good! Please forgive all of them for participating in this piece of trash.

I'd like to forgive you, Paul, for recommending this. Surely you don't think this movie deserved your attention?

Glenn Beck is such a smarmy douchebag, is so absolutely revolting to experience in any single solitary sense -- much less two or three at a time -- that even Jon Stewart channeling him is enough to make me want to run out and slit his throat.
