Tom Carr Calls Pete Holmes to Concede

Posted by The Stranger Election Control Board on Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 9:45 PM

The SECB just chatted up a triumphant Pete Holmes at the Seattle Glassblowing Studio, where everyone is drinking wine and enjoying jubilant swing music.

The first thing Holmes told us is that Tom Carr had just phoned him to concede. "It was a real classy call," said Holmes. "He ran a tough campaign." As for the night's results, Holmes said, "I'm stunned. I thought this would be a tight race."

Detailing his future plans, Holmes had the SECB all but swooning: "We will not be prosecuting simple marijuana cases anymore, which is part of a bigger fix of geniunely facing public-safety threats, not nanny-state concerns."

Also celebrating victory at the Seattle Glassblowing Studio: Nick Licata, who tonight won a fourth term on the city council. His plans: "I'm gonna do everything—push for a stronger liberal agenda and not drop the ball on social justice."

Sometimes the good guys win.

And now Carr will take a partnership in private practice somewhere making four times the money, the schmuck. My guess would be Anne Bremner's firm.

Here's hoping Licata learned a lesson during the campaign and will stop fighting public transit during his last term.

Life is good.

One of the funny parts of this race was that both sides had almost all the people behind the Monorail votes - most on the Pete Holmes side.

Both candidates deserve respect, they ran good campaigns and it was just time for change in the city of seattle. Don't be a douche bag.
