Election Haven't Voted? You Still Can

A McGinn volunteer points out that if you didn't get your ballot postmarked before the post office closed tonight, you can take your sealed ballots to the following locations by 11 pm tonight:
Lake City—QFC parking lot (3020 NE 127th St)
Capitol Hill—in front of the QFC at Pike and Broadway (1401 Broadway)
Rainier Valley—QFC parking lot (2707 Rainier Ave S, just north of McClellan)
West Seattle—QFC parking lot (4550 42nd Avenue SW, near the junction)
Wallingford—on 45th Street N, in front of the Wallingford Center (4400 Wallingford Ave N)
"Look for someone with a McGinn for Mayor sign, and just hand them your sealed ballot," says Aaron Pickus, McGinn volunteer. Volunteers will be driving ballots to a post office in SeaTac that's open until midnight.

And if they take the train to SeaTac instead, that's because smart people like McGinn know a city needs mass transit.

I'm all in favor of increasing voter participation and McGinn winning for mayor, but does the notion of campaign workers collecting ballots seem problematic to anyone else?

Fuckkkkkkkkk. I gave up all hope of finding another box before having to submit my exam and dropped mine at the 47th Street box at 9 PM.

Can you clarify? Just because a post office is open until midnight doesn't mean that it still stamps today's postmark on the mail. I'm considering finding this post office to delivery my ballot myself.

@4: it should be postmarked for the day corresponding to the last pickup time, or when you hand it over the counter in person. I remember doing something similar on New Year's Day many years ago, frantically sending off some college applications with a Jan. 1 postmark deadline. (It worked!)

No doubt it's legal, my only question is its effectiveness -- does that Post Office in fact put a same-date cancellation on the mail it receives that late?
Last I heard, all our local mail went to that mega-Post Office on the Duwamish River for cancellation marks. And mail from the SeaTac Post Office wouldn't be trucked over until well after midnight....
