Meanwhile in Maine

Posted by on Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 9:44 AM

It's too close to call in Maine. If you haven't made a donation yet...

Goal Thermometer

Anti-gay bigots are polluting the airwaves with homophobic bullshit—married gay couples are going to assrape each other in front of your children at mandatory school assemblies!—and the our side needs to respond. If you're not tapped out, help out.

As OTT as this is: "married gay couples are going to assrape each other in front of your children at mandatory school assemblies!" the claim is not far from the representation the anti-gay crowd makes.

Would any amount of money (early in a campaign let alone on election eve) persuade someone that can be swayed that easily by fear and lunacy?

The fact that 55% of any electorate can strip rights from a minority population is enough to make me completely loathe Christianity.

I fully expect the worst.

Why move? The same twisted religious zealotry is thriving right here...in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The greatest country in the world (sic) does a fine job of ignoring it's principles...and I can get killed and/or beaten literally or at the ballot box in many locations right here.

Religious extremism is alive and well right here.

How come under the "Add a comment" block, it says "In an effort to keep Slog's discourse respectful and on topic, commenting on this post is only available to registered commenters.", yet 1 and 3-5 are here, displaying the rampant assholia we've come to expect from Slog's particular brand of anonymous cretin...

33% of Yes on 1 (the anti-gay side) contributions are from Mainers, mostly large contributions of over $1,000
70% of No on 1 (pro-equality/pro-family side) contributions are from Mainers in small contributions under $255.

Interesting.
