Your Daily Douchebags

Posted by on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 5:42 PM

There are 921 members of the Facebook group Reject Referendum 71. Why do they want to repeal the domestic-partnership law? I'd hate to color their logic with the prism of my bias, so here they are, in their own words:

Ben about 6 hours ago

i rejected referendum 71 thats totally wrong marraige stands between one man and one women this homosexual marriage makes me sick as a wa resident my self to hear this garbage this state is not california nor ma. either lets show congress what we really think by rejecting gay marriage proposal in our state!!! may god help us all

Ruslan Ukrainian about 1 hour ago

Marriage was made between man and women, everything else is just peoples perverted minds, due to moral decay, caused by early sexual activities, premarital activities, and web searched by children and adult related to "porn".

well it is written in the bible only a man and a women are to be married and as a christian women i truly believe this is what is right

Tip from NaFun, who also offers this image to cleanse your brain.

Is that reallywritten in the Bible? I bet it's not, at least not in the context today's bigots like LC mean it.

On another note, while I'll give Ruslan a pass since he's a damn fur'ner, the spelling, punctuation and grammar of the other commentors is as good as the logic behind their thoughts.

My closet case sense was tingling for more than a few of the members of that group. Bah, self-hating queers are so damn tired.

These idiots don't even understand the singular and plural forms of man/men or woman/women for fuck sakes.

@1 she means her husband wrote in there by hand, five thousand times, after he went camping for the weekend with some of his friends.

Fresh from a glory hole or a gay-bash...tough to tell.

I seriously don't think I've hated people more in my entire life.

Check out the homo-biblical imagery on this one:

@5: people who use the singular for 'man' and plural for 'women' when discussing marriage out themselves as Mormon.

More full names with comments, please. Having this article come up first for eternity on searches for their names is its own justice.

Hmmm, they don't want the petitions released for their privacy. Good thing nobody else in the state uses Facebook.

Versus 34,000 on one Approve R-71 group, 2,500 on the secondary group.

Yawn.

There's a ton of Russians on this list...and some closet cases not old enough to even vote.
Makes you wonder how many of these asswipes are the future gaybashers of WA State.

Oh, and naming names, for Google. Love that idea so much.

For fuck's sake! Do any christians read their own holy book or do they just listen to their preacher tell them what it says?!?

@16 - it's almost that righteous "Do as I say, Not as I Do"
Like NPR executives.

Leaders of the National Association of Black Journalists told NPR's chief executive: "Of the 68 members on your corporate team and behind-the-scenes staff, only eight are people of color. . . . The minority population of the United States is approximately 32 percent."

So much for the gospel of diversity.

@17- in their defense- it might be the percentage of the population of journalists is only 8.5% (~68/8) vs. the population at large. and what the fuck are you talking about? yeah, i see the reference to @16 but saying that that is a stretch is a stretch. don't mess with my npr! at least they encourage critical thought- unlike your religion.

Ok you guys, I LOVE your comments, BUT as of today, Spokane county has received back 25% of the ballots they mailed out. King county has received back only 16%.
One does not have to be a brain trust to figure that this sort of potential complacency has a huge impact! Get those ballots and stamps out and VOTE and get on the phone and call and text and make SURE that everyone you know VOTES!! We MUST get this done, let's show the world that we're willing to live our convictions here!!
APPROVE R-71!!

Teabagger 1: Gov't stay outta my church!

Teabagger 2: My church, get in to gv't!

Teabagger 1 & 2 ensemble: You are all less patriotic than! us!

Namaste: we don't have to live in a world where our mormon dads are gross, plus we have real jobs with benefits.

"well it is written in the bible only a man and a women are to be married and as a christian women i truly believe this is what is right"

As a christian woman, you should shut the fuck up before I stone you to death for opening your mouth.

I wish all these people pancreatic cancer.

@20:
Spokane County Returns, as of 8pm 10/28: 64,479
Seattle City Returns, as of 8pm 10/28: 68,268 (King County is at about 200k)

Take heart!

More than that, you have to realize that we're in the middle of what is probably the most contentious mayoral race in a decade, so a lot of people aren't going to drop their ballots until Monday or Tuesday.

We could all join their group and then change it into a pro 71 group. There's more people who read slog than are on their group.

Finally: Catholics or Mormons -- which is the weirdest cult?

I don't think hating anyone is the right response.
Clearly, the problem is ignorance. That means the solution is education. I don't mean just education about gay people but education about the world.

Ha, Doug, I needed a laugh and you came through.

And Judith, I'm right there with ya (even if I posted a bunch of the links!)...I gave up my obsession at about 4:30 am this morn when I awoke after having a dream about this crap, my heart pounding.

No more. Tuesday, come fast.
