Who's Going To Win?

Posted by on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 4:26 PM

Yesterday we asked about five big local races and state-wide measures. Today we're going down-ballot.

Remember: This is not about what you want to happen in the election that ends on Nov. 3. It's about what you think is actually going to happen.

So.

What's going to happen in the races for city council, port commissioner, and the assessor's office once the votes are all counted?

Who's going to win City Council Position No. 2?

Who's going to win City Council Position No. 4?

Who's going to win City Council Position No. 6?

Who's going to win City Council Position No. 8?

Who's going to win Port of Seattle Position No. 3?

Who's going to win Port of Seattle Position No. 4?

Who's going to win the race for King County Assessor?

Everyone, please read the instructions really carefully before you vote because if you screw up, the poll could be inaccurate.

I think Vekich is going to win. Here's why:

He's got a grassroots campaign. He's got every single Democratic legislative district (although I admit only half of them are actually functional). He's got as much money as his opponent. He's got the fine folks at Port Reform (www.portreform.org) working on his and Rob Holland's behalf. His opponent has been outed as a conservative who is taking money from all the port's insiders, and voters hate that shit. And best of all Max's got that great banner ad up on Electionland.

Gene and Lloyd are nice guys, but Bob is going to win the Assessor's race.

And then die in a freak space station toilet seat accident.

Dear Leaward,

It's not grassroots if people are getting paid to do it. That's called astroturfing, which the "fine folks at Port Reform" are pros at, literally - professional campaigners, not volunteers. Let's do our homework and get our facts straight for a change.
