I Don't Know What Mattel Is Thinking

Daily Stab has just introduced me to the newest Ken (of "Barbie and..." fame) doll. On the left, you'll see a photo of Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken.

Sporting a dashing jacquard-patterned jacket with a light pink polo shirt and crisp white pants, Ken doll is ready for Palm Beach social season, sunning by the pool and a stroll with his little companion....Includes Ken doll, jacket, pink polo shirt, white shoes, dog with leash, swim trunks and accessories, doll stand and certificate of authenticity.

Douchebag Ken costs $82, but you can buy him for $70 over here.

OMG. When I saw that my first thought was "they made a Graham Norton doll."

Well, they clearly know who buys $82 Barbies/Kens, and it isn't children.

Is he wearing a thong underneath the suit?

I'm pretty sure Smither's was first in line to grab this thing. You know those 'collectors'.

Oh sure, it's all silly fun now, but what about when doctors start pulling these out of gay guys' butts by the thousands, all across the country? It's gonna happen...

It's only going to happen to the homophobic, republican ones, Chris.

whatever, I call bullshit!

Two years ago I saw this same doll butching it up at the Pittsbrgh LeatherManCon.

This "Palm Beach Sugar Daddy" has had more manscaping done than a mid-level 1990's boy band.

Back then he went By R.S. short for Randy Steve, and he would offer poppers to all the waitstaff.

ya'll beware FWIW.

I'm pretty sure he'll be hooking up with Captain Scarlet later.

Captain Blue's gonna be _pissed_. Or wait, maybe it's a threesome?

I like to think I'm even more stylish than Ken, but I don't come with a certificate of authenticity.

So, I guess Mattel is finally settling those adolescent discussions about Ken's sexuality, huh? Maybe they're not coming out and saying it, but...c'mon, I'd understand that it's a poor decision on some behind-the-times marketing department if he just didn't have that dog.

For once I wish Charles would post some Marxism/Capitalism bullshit on this topic.

There is no way that is real. I wish it was, because I would totally buy flaming palm beach homo ken, but it can't be real.

I have searched Mattel's site and Googled for a while and i find no mention of this doll. All reports turn back to a reoprt from an anonymous source for the NY Post.

Hint: The Post is not known for accurate reporting.

Anyone else find anything?

Um, hartiepie? All the reports go back to the doll offered for sale at entertainmentearth.com. Not the Post. The doll's not on Mattel's site because it's not actually for sale yet. But you can find lots of the other collector dolls on both sites.
