Elephant in the Room

Posted by on Sat, Oct 24, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Charlie writes to Slog HQ: "I produce a satirical web series called Seattle Untimely," Charlie says. "We recently put together an anti-Susan Hutchison video that we thought you might like. It's admittedly pretty weird."

Jeepers, Halloween could come on November 3.

Whaaaaa...I should have a cute cartoon image of ME...me...DOW. How come "SHE" gets to have a cute avatar! I'm even cuter than a Zwinky!

Perhaps enterprising reportage might garner a clue as to what the musicians actually think about Susan's tenure as Symphony Board president. It wasn't all an ode to Joy.

I have it on fairly good authority that county execs have had it out for Seattle since the 70s, especially after Forward Thrust and the Kingdome.

Great ending.

I was expecting her to destroy the Kingdome and rip up the SLUT.

What #3 said, have we ever had a county exec that was truly 'pro-Seattle'? I mean if we did that retarded 40 40 20 rule never would have happened, though Sue will probably push to make it 49 49 2 by next year...

Great ad, it'll totally convert hipsters and art students!

Oh wait…

It's odd that slog gave a bunch of coverage to the two previous mayoral debates but zero coverage to the one taking place right now.

They were all busy watching the Sounders FC cruise to a 2-1 win over Dallas, stinkbug.

Mallahan's still not getting it.

From biking around today and seeing signs in certain front yards I think I'm resigned to the fact that Mallahan will likely sadly win.

@10, that may be the case that Joe "Missed Most of the Elections" Mallahan wins, but I'll tell you that on my particular block there is 1 Mallahan sign and zero McGinn signs, but according to my neighbors, all but one of us voted for McGinn. Most of us, however, did so with hesitation, to prevent Mallahan from taking over City Hall. None of us are particularly fond of McGinn, but feel he's better than the alternative, and that Mallahan would be an unmitigated disaster for the city.

Weird, is right. The problem with all of the usual slams from the usual playbook, is that they are not working against Hutchison. Why?

For starters, she rarely challenges Dow's barbs in the debates. Instead, she delivers her own backhanded slaps. When she does that, Dow's demeanor gets quirky, and he looks uncomfortable in his skin (and awful suits).

The REAL elephant in the room is that Dow is just plain and simple uninspiring. He often comes off as an angry mad-hatter, and still isn't delivering good reasons to vote for him (being pro-choice, and having progressive enviro credentials aside).

It's going to be one hell of an ugly post-mortem on November 4th.

Somewhere, Jean Enerson just pictured her future as the next Sarah Palin.

Thanks...I think.
