Aggressive Cops on Capitol Hill and Tom Carr

Posted by on Sat, Oct 24, 2009 at 1:34 PM

Could this (from Slog tipper Ryan at 4:16 this morning):

I've personally never seen more cops out and about on capital hill than I did tonight Fri 10/23... and this is just walking from 12th and pike to pike and broadway. First I witnessed two white male butch (aggressive) cops harassing a group of gay black men outside of qfc... stepping them aside and asking for IDs... then on my way back to 12th... cops harassing people in the parking lot behind havana... and this is all in a matter of ten minutes... WTF!!!

...be related to this?

hard nosed Carr....Seattle Times B4, he wishes the injured firefighter well, but still will appeal so the dude can't get any money for another year or so.

If you get stopped by the police, make sure to tell them you were at Quinn's for their all-you-can-drink lager special with purchase of any foie gras.

This household just mailed in two votes for Holmes.

I'm torn. Seems like Carr wants to arrest everybody and Holmes doesn't want to arrest anybody: http://publicola.net/?p=16334.

4:00 is shift-change, and you were 1 block from the police station.

Don't you think @5: Erica's post about bike stuff on Publicola is based on some inaccurate info, and she's also wrong on the policy. Read through the comments to that post for an explanation (sorry, don't have time to write it out in detail now). And, as Erica notes, Holmes said he supported a law like Oregon's (https://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/811.135.h…), which is the best approach to this issue (and one that might actually get enacted by the Legislature).

Don't be torn -- dump Carr, vote Holmes.

Obtw, when stopped by police in Washington, it is not a crime to refuse to identify yourself.

(I am not a lawyer, so don't take my word for it. Check instead the Facebook page of Evergreen Law Group for confirmation on this from real actual lawyers.)

Tom Carr doesn't want you to have the Rights that all Americans have.

Sigh.

wouldn't it be a shame if everyone had gotten drunk at the Rainier Club?

Aside from using his office to intimidate the people speaking out against him, Tom Carr is a shit attorney, who doesn't have the backs of the people who keep us safe, and can't negotiate a settlement which costs the City millions of dollars a year. http://tinyurl.com/yj8b2c3

Vote for Pete Holmes. Now.

What, people have a problem with "targeting" your "enemies"?

If a cop stops you, tell 'em you got the alcohol from their mother-and a wicked case of the crabs.

Said it before, I'll say it again. You guys need to start attacking this sort of crap with liberal use of FOIA filings.

At least in Portland the ratio of girl to guy zombies is about right.

Here in Seattle it would be the usual 100 dude zombies for 3 chick zombies...

@11 theif-

If an officer asks where you have been drinking, tell them you have been at the Rainier Club.

The Fremont Zombie Walk was pretty evenly balanced, fyi. And it was huge.

Carr let Erica off on her little wine bust. But it was only a misdemeanor, since that's all the city attorney prosecutes, even if Carr talks like he nailing the Mafia.

Send some of those cops over to Greenwood, where something is set afire every other week. No, seriously, please.

It's like they don't care if a place is set afire or tagged by graffiti artists ...

If a cop asks you where you were drinking, tell them one of our fine local sports stadiums.

They were harassing people behind Havana? That's very interesting.

I kinda like having some cops out late night. Seems to be the time when a lot of shit goes down. Maybe they can stop the cars from being broken into, stop the muggings, catch the taggers, stop some Dbags from driving drunk, etc, etc, ...
