Today in Traditional Marriage

Posted by on Thu, Oct 22, 2009 at 11:04 AM

"She met a guy on the Internet," writes Slog tipper Matt. "Then she gave her husband Horny Goat Weed. Then she took him to the woods saying they were going to have sex. Then she cut his throat and stabbed him in the chest causing a collapsed lung and cardiac arrest. Then she left him and went to have sex with the guy from the Internet who knew nothing about what was going on. The Internet guy was then arrested for attempted murder though he had been in town less than an hour. Ta-da!"

The full story is here.

"Approving R-71 will only harm people like this," adds Matt. "We must reject it. Clearly."

I think Matt is being sarcastic here. In all fairness to those who oppose domestic partnerships in Washington state, the United Kingdom enacted civil partnerships for same-sex couples—offering all the same rights of marriage—in 2004. Joanne Hale made no attempts on her husband's life before gay couples in the UK had access to all the same rights and responsibilities as heterosexual couples. It can't be a coincidence.

I'd never heard of horny goat weed. Was kinda hoping it was a brand name.

It hasn't been a fantastic week for public perception of the Civil Partnership Act here in Britain, given that a few days ago a prominent newspaper columnist tried to imply that there is a proven link between a) having a civil partnership and b) premature death. Which makes a change from the usual, more straightforward 'GAY = DEATH', I suppose.

Well, the beauty of each of the characters in this tale would have surely played some part in the strange goings-on. Driven to madness by desire?

Lives of the rich and glamorous are never easy....

Meh, England. It's hard to take a country seriously that lets its post office go on strike.

So, they want these people to get married and have kids?

Wow, then we get to read about multiple deaths ... instead of just one.

Forgive me, but none of the people portrayed in the story are gay or seniors, so what does this have to do with R-71?

@6 - Read the last paragraph. It's a play on the anti-R71's campaign.

Wow even when heterosexual people kill each other, somehow its still 'those homosexualists' fault. God I detest people that buy into that. Check out this site for some reasonably logical thoughts: http://byrdsview.blogspot.com/

I blame the internets.

Internet: Helping stupid people attempt murder since 1991.

"He cut his own throat." Seriously? Not a quick thinker, is she?
