Following last night's rumble, mayoral candidates Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan will take your questions today for one hour beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Electionland. You guys ask all the questions (if it were left up to us, we'd only ask about hookah taxes and legalizing tranny escorts), but there's not enough time for them to answer every question, so get in there and vote for the best questions.

Let's start a betting pool on whether Mallahan will show for this. Anyone?

Let's start a pool if he answers any unfavorable questions.

I and many, many other voters will have no respect at all for Mallahan unless he finally comes clean with a plausible explanation for this:

We don't need a mayor who can't even tell us why he missed elections. It's one thing to miss them, in the days before mail ballots--stuff happens. Unexpected trips, whatever.

But to dodge the question and not give a straight answer is to spit in Seattle's eye with contempt.

If I were Mallahan, I'm not sure if it'd be worth my time showing up for this. Can anybody come up with a good reason why?

#3. Joe Mallahan can come on The Stranger's site and speak directly to our readers. If he has a good showing on Questionland, he can peel votes from McGinn in a demographic that McGinn has to do very well with to win. On the other hand, If he doesn't show, he looks like a coward. The spin will be that he was seriously wounded in last nights bout and can't make it out of the corner.
Questionland today is far more risky for McGinn. (That is if Mallahan shows.)
BTW, I'm The Stranger's publisher.
