The Next McGinn-Mallahan Debate

Posted by Eli Sanders on Thu, Oct 22, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Last night brought the KING 5 fisticuffs.

This afternoon saw Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan offering their views on crime, carbon footprints, and the desirability of having Dan Savage as a boss down in ElectionLand.

And tonight they're running over to the KCTS 9 studios for another televised debate, this one starting at 7 p.m. Christopher Frizzelle will be liveblogging, so come back to Slog to watch and comment and complain and cheer—and maybe drink, too.

I hope Mike continues to hammer Joe.

Mike, if you're reading this, please put him on the spot about his non-voting in all those elections as detailed endlessly.

Sorry kids but its all over. I suggest that McGinn cult focus on coming up with some creative conspiracy theories for Nov.3rd in keeping with Stranger entertainment standards.

The only question left is whether Mike will lose by single or double digits.

Oh Frizzelle's liveblogging? Lemme guess, from McGinn headquarters, right? Cuz, have you heard, he's BEEN there. Which is IMPRESSIVE. It means they LIKE him.

Is the debate live?

Why doesn't the stranger use the live blog chat widget anymore?

Why hasn't Joe tweeted in the past 30+ hours?

I am so looking forward to this! Best live teevee of the year so far.

@7, he should just tweet over and over "keep it together...keep it together..."

@5: Only 10% of this year's expected turnout have turned in their ballots and a third of 18-35 year old voters and 21% of all voters are undecided. Debates like these drive the final vote.

Math and statistics seem to be a Mallabot's biggest downfall, and it's apparent at this point that debate skills are also lacking.

Will: We aren't electing a city debater, we are electing a city mayor. That is the point that you miss in this whole political process. Mallahan is a weak debater, but he doesn't have to be good against McGinn, who is his own worst enemy. People come away from these debates perceiving him as a know-it-all ideologue. Mike reminds me of Lyndon LaRouche in terms of how he speaks and like LaRouche, his cult following will never grow beyond the gullible.

count me as pro-Mallabot. Bots love tunnels. Non-bots are feeble.

So are we up for the "Mike just doesn't get it" drinking game or are we looking for something new tonight?

Maybe one for every time Joe says "drive" or "neighborhoods of color?"

I'm doing a shot whenever Joe says "planful".
