Reading Today

We have a memoir about romance and kidney failure, a saga about a Seattle family from the 1890s through the Prohibition, and a cookbook from the Grand Central Bakery tonight, among others.

All day in Belltown, it's the Anarchist Book Festival. You can read all about it over here. There are panels about anarchy in science fiction and digital commons and the Middle East and so on. You can read more about those here. This continues tomorrow.

Comics Dungeon has two readers today. The brains behind Gothic Charm School are reading from their book about how to be a goth. And then Scott Allie will sign his latest comic book Exurbia, which is an entertaining comic book that tweaks ideas of suburban angst in a pleasant way.

And Pilot Books has three readers today. Jen Bervin exhibits book and word-related artwork all over the world. Heather Christie has written a poetry collection called The Difficult Farm. And Matvei Yankelevich, the co-founder of Ugly Duckling Presse, will be reading too.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
